Marketing With Heart Tip: Find Heartfelt Marketing Strategies that work. For you. Step 1

There is so much talk about what marketing you ‘should be’ doing: social media, websites, advertising, brochures, ezines, SEO, SEM… help!

How to make sense of it all? Most people have a go at this and that, find some of it works, some of it doesn’t, figuring out what to do and where to focus can just feel a bit overwhelming.

Over the next few articles I am going to pull apart the mystery and help you to determine marketing roads worth taking and those perhaps not so worthwhile for you and your business. In my work with people I have found that each person has a ‘gifted area’ they can market from. Once you have identified yours marketing becomes so much easier!

Successful marketing relies on three things:

1. Knowing your target market

2. Reaching your target market

3. And doing it consistently.

What is a target market? It is the people your services are targeted to.

So, I invite you to explore your target market. Your target market does not necessarily have to be those you see all the time if you don’t like them! It is those you want to work with, those that make your heart sing and you feel passionate about helping. It can feel decidedly scary to commit to working with those, but doing so will improve your outcomes and make working much more joyful.

When you explore your target market consider the demographics – age, gender, geographical location, income, etc. Some of these things are critical to your successful marketing plan. For example, if you need to be in physical contact with your clients they will need to be in driving distance of your workplace. Your marketing strategies must target them. Seems obvious but you would be surprised.

Then explore the psychographics of your target market – what psychology do they have in common? For example all my clients are very determined to create a bigger and better version of themselves and their life and are committed to their own personal evolution. I would not be much of a match for someone who did not fit that description.

Finally explore the problems they experience and the solutions your offer. Go deeper than the generic solutions your modality or practice or training offers. The more specific you become the easier your target client will be able to hear your call.
