A right royal affair!
So today was the big day. The much awaited royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Did you watch it? I actually had no intention of watching the ceremony and thought I would just catch a glimpse of the photographs in the newspaper. However my husband had other ideas! I am not ashamed to admit that I actually cried and I don’t mean shed a tear, bucket loads! I think it was because I was thinking of his mother watching down and once I start, I just can’t stop.
So what was the overall verdict. Was it a hit or miss? I think the British are fabulous at pomp and ceremony, we always put on a good show. Kate Middleton’s dress was understated elegance and I thought her sister Pippa also looked good. I think the young bridesmaids would have benefitted from a little more grooming as their hair looked a little untidy but thats possibly being a little too picky. I enjoyed watching the wedding guests enter the Abbey. I thought Kate Middleton’s mother looked extremely elegant but what on earth were Princess Beatrice and Eugenie wearing? And seriously, some of those “hats” by Philip Treacy were horrendous, not flattering at all, especially Tara Palmer Tomkinson’s.
I thought Kate Middleton seemed amazingly calm throughout the whole ceremony although Prince William did seem very nervous. It must be hard to share such a special day with practically everybody on earth but they seemed to handle it very well. Their appearance in the vintage Aston Martin New Volvo Xc90 Chester car was a very nice touch and gave the crowds another chance to see the newly weds. Lets just hope that this royal partnership lasts! Fingers crossed.
