Show some respect.

In the last two years I have lost five close family members. My Father, 3 Grandparents and my Great Aunty. My father’s death was particularly tragic as he was so young but the other deaths were timely, they were all in their 90s and had had had a good life. Obviously death is never a laughing matter but in order to get through a difficult two years we had to adopt a sense of humour. For example my mother suggested we ask the funeral director if he had any special offers, 3 for 2 or buy one get one free! Some might find it disrespectful but for us, it was just a way to cope.

Consequently, when it comes to Christmas, I need to buy as many “gifts” for the deceased as for the living. Wreaths for graves cost a fortune but I would feel terrible not to take something to the graves at such a special time of year. The grave yards are always packed at Christmas and driving the Audi Q7 Newton Abbot car can be quite tricky. To get passed other visitors I have often had to drive over the grass, basically driving over peoples graves. This got me thinking about graveyard etiquette and here is what I came up with.

You should never smoke in a cemetery, never take any pets with you and never ever drive over graves!!!!! Whoops, I think I have nearly broken all of those. I shall considered myself well and truly told and off and vow not to do it again. Naughty naughty me.
