Originally during their standardization in 1992 there were 12 Medicare Supplement Plans to be sold and administered by the private health insurance companies. But still it should be kept in mind that no single company is capable of bringing in any changes in the standard set of benefits offered by these plans. In fact each and every company is liable to provide the same benefits in respect of any particular plan. i.e. If you purchase a part C Medigap insurance from any health insurance company, you need not worry about the alteration of benefits as per company. In fact no matter whatever company you choose the plan from you can be certain of the fact that you will get the same benefits.

However, there are also some other things that should be noted in this respect as well. While concerning Medigap Insurance it is essential to note that these plans are only supplementary insurance plans to the original Medicare and therefore have no individual existence. No one can even purchase a Medigap plan independently without getting enrolled to the original Medicare plans. It is only if you are already a beneficiary of the original Medicare part A and B you are eligible to get enrolled for the Medigap insurance.
