Never liked attending parties
As I was growing up, I hated attending family functions. My mum had to bribe me with money just to attend a family wedding or any kind of parties. As I got older, I started enjoying the parties I went to, and I even sat though a christening without yawning once.
My mum still finds it shocking when I turn up to parties before she does, and she gets even more shocked when I’m the first to accept any invitations. I guess as I got older I started to enjoy meeting new people and getting to know the extended family more personally.
When I started my new job, I kept myself to away from office parties, birthday lunches and leaving drinking but as I got to know my colleagues, I have decided to join in all the fun. The very first work party I attended was when my manager left; it was very emotional for everyone as she left after working for the company for 20 years.
Last week I received an email from work, inviting us to one of the corporate events that are held every year. I got really excited, as it will be my first event at work but I’m also very nervous about meeting all the VIPs.
I decided to buy myself an elegant dress, as I don’t want to look odd in my normal clothes but I can’t find the perfect dress anywhere. So my sister said, she’ll take me to a dress shop next to her house where they do the best party dresses she has ever seen.
