Since the inception of EBay in the early 2000 era online shopping hasn’t been quite the same. Personally, myself, I always check on EBay for anything before I look elsewhere. I also have a clear-out at least twice a year and put everything I no longer want on EBay.
People buy and sell all sorts on EBay; I’ve purchased two cars via the online auction site without even looking at the car in flesh. People trust the EBay feedback policy, which has proven to be very valuable and difficult to manipulate. I love the buzz of last minute bidding it is addictive! I enjoy the built up to an auction ending, the last minute bidding and the frantic efforts to outbid others really does get your blood rushing!
With the help of EBay many people have set-up small online businesses, buying and selling stock. These people would not be able to transact online without the help of EBay. Obviously some people already had ecommerce websites but, with EBay there is only a small selling fee. With online ecommerce websites there are overheads such as hosting fees, domain charges and ecommerce website design.
Ecommerce websites are still very popular; many systems now allow you to integrate your stock with EBay so that they are automatically listed. Some software even auto populate Facebook shops with a click of a button.
I think EBay has helped encourage people to get online and trade, whether it be as a small business or as an individual just wanting to sell something or grab a bargain.
