Speed is always a dangerous thing on the roads yet our first response teams have to speed to get to emergencies every day. Drivers that don’t see or hear the approach of an emergency vehicle are a danger, that is why as much lighting, and noise as possible is sometimes needed. Our modern vehicles help keep us cocooned in our little bubbles and we can blissfully unaware of what is going on around us on the highway. The statistics for fatal road traffic accidents are horrific and a high percentage is caused by careless distracted driving. Take note of what is around you, drive with caution and use your full set of senses to ensure you are fully aware. You will hopefully not see any flashing LED bar light in your mirror but if you do you can react quickly.
