If you did not eat all of the pot roast, you can put them in your refrigerator and make cheesy pot roast sandwiches. However, the meat used for pot roast is the chuck meat of the cow. It is the meat on the shoulder part of the cow which has probably the toughest fiber for a meat. It is not even usually cut to pieces and will not be softened and edible if a regular type of cooking is applied. Slow cooking is the best for this kind of meat as the heat in it melts the collagen of the meat which will give an instant juice for intense flavor. The low temperature and the long period of cooking will tenderize the chuck slowly and accurately, and the meat will also taste like the flavored liquid used for the seasoning. So if you bite a piece of the pot roast, it will be soft and the natural meat and the seasoning flavor will explode in your mouth.
Partnered with tomatoes, potatoes and mushrooms, this can be the perfect pot roast main course. The tomatoes give the sweet taste, the mushrooms give the ‘gravy’ effect and the potato takes the appetizer role.
Pot roast is usually eaten with bread and rice. The staple foods go well with the dish due to their plainness that will carry over the taste of the pot roast. They will spread the intense flavor of the pot roast in your mouth. And the fact that some bread and rice and the meat of the pot roast are good sources of nutrients, a healthy meal is ensured.
