Archport Stash Sandals

Archport recently sent me a pair of their ‘stash’ sandals to check out, promoting the pockets under the arches that allows you to keep credit cards, room keys, money and whatever other small, flattish items you want in your shoe. They promoted the convenience of going to the beach and not needing to worry about having pockets, but I saw a lot of opportunity for other uses for travelers.
I’ve spent a lot of time in areas of South America that maybe aren’t the safest. In order to prevent losing everything if I were to be robbed I would often keep money inside my shoe or duct-taped to my leg. I was, in fact, robbed (twice), despite being careful, and this money was safe and what got me home after each incident.
So, the first thing that I thought of with these is how nice it would have been to have them when I wanted to put money in my shoe.
The second thing that occurred to me is that they hadn’t mentioned how comfortable they would be. As a short person with flat feet, to wear a flip flop that kept me an extra inch or so off the ground while also supporting what little arch I had, these flip-flops made me very happy. Despite the fact that it was a rather dreary November in Seattle when I received the stash sandals, I found myself compelled to wear them-and not to take them off.
They aren’t the cutest things in the world—they’re a little clunky, but they aren’t ugly and they are very comfortable and useful. I’ll be bringing mine on my next vacations to either the beach or a slightly dangerous place so I can use my secret hiding spot.
And now i can open my beer with bottle opener sandals!
