Make Money Working at Home

In this article, we’ll examine two of the more common opportunities you see offered on the ‘net, and evaluate them in terms of their overall suitability for inclusion in your own plans to make money working from home.

Survey Sites – Believe it or not, this is a good opportunity with genuine potential. There are, however, certain steps you should take to ensure a safe and profitable experience with these types of sites.

The most basic precautions here are a separate e-mail account, specifically dedicated to your survey site work. I say this because when you sign up with one or more of these companies, you’ll open the e-mail floodgates, and you probably don’t want to have all that new mail pouring into your regular e-mail account. Secondly, organization. The better paying surveys invariably have you signing up for this or that free trial offer, and if you keep whatever service you are evaluating beyond the free trial period, you’ll be charged for it, so organization is important because invariably, you’ll wipe out your survey profits if you forget to cancel in time! You probably also want to pick up a (completely free) copy of a little program called “RoboForm” as this will greatly speed your work!

Survey sites come in two basic “flavors.” Cash-based and point-based. Cash based survey sites are more rare, and pretty straightforward. Complete the survey per the instructions given, get money credited to your account (some sites have minimum payout thresholds, and most require validation of completion by the sponsoring company, so the money you make may not be immediately available).

The point based sites deserve some additional discussion. Some sites allow you to trade your points for gift cards (Visa or Store-Specific), making them nearly as good as cash, while others can be traded in for weekly/monthly “sweepstakes” or other contests. While both represent a valid opportunity, I’d recommend generally steering clear of the “sweepstakes” oriented point based sites, if you goal is to put something in place to create a steady, reliable stream of income, and if you sign on with several survey sites (15-20+), you can actually generate a decent, reliable income at it.

The second item I’d like to bring to your attention in this article are what I call the Hybrid Sites. I’ve dubbed them with the title because these sites typically have several different activities associated with them, from completing trial offers to games, to paid emails and surveys, with each of these activities offering small cash payouts (reference “InboxDollars.com” as a classic example of this type of site). As with many of the other ‘net based offerings, most of these have affiliate based programs associated with them, and again, with proper marketing, you can draw people to your “downline” and increase your profits. As with any site or opportunity involving completing offers and doing surveys, you’ll probably want a separate e-mail account dedicated to this purpose, and again, organization and signing up with multiple sites are the keys to generating more than a trickle of income.

Either of these opportunities can be made to work, but don’t believe the hype you read about making six figures! With persistence, you can parlay these opportunities into a decent part time income, but don’t expect to retire early.
