Vauxhall Insignia
The Vauxhall Insignia is clearly designed to add a dose of flair and panache to everyday driving. The exterior styling alone is a clear cut indication of Vauxhall’s dedication to keep up with other viable entrants in the midsize saloon department. The sloping rear is reminiscent of the coupe profile which is widely popular amongst the new cars of today and certainly gives the Insignia a sexy silhouette that is too pretty to ignore.
Handsome or sleek as the styling may be, the shape managed to impinge the room at the rear. While legroom is adequate even for three people in the back, headroom is slightly compromised due to the sloping rear glass. As the Vauxhall Insignia is first and foremost a proper four door saloon, proper emphasis is given on comfort rather than extreme sportiness.
The 128bhp and 158bhp diesel engines are no laggards when it comes to propulsion and are amongst the most expensive when it comes to trim levels. The diesels are equipped with tall gearing ratios that not only provide some much needed engine silence when travelling at speed but also contribute to fuel economy as well. Available also are the 1.6-litre turbo, 1.8-litre, 2.0-litre turbo and 2.6-litre V6 turbo petrol.
As the Vauxhall Insignia is a proper saloon, it is without question that the steering and the suspension are oriented towards the more comfortable things in life. Do not expect cat-like reflexes or accurate steering feedback as the Mazda 6 and Ford Mondeo are considerably more responsive than the Insignia. When it comes to highway cruising, however, the Vauxhall Insignia shines through.
The handsome dashboard layout is also considered to be one of the best things about the Vauxhall Insignia. If this car is intended to be different from the rest while providing an added dose of excitement and sublime performance then the Insignia deserves your hard earned consideration.
