My Individual Standing on Government Health Care
Let me start of by affirming that this essay is not stating whether or not the Us health care reform is an acceptable idea or not. This write-up is simply my general feelings about healthcare in a general sense. I deem this is an examination worth having for two fundamental reasons. Those reasons are the reality that the United States has opted for universal health care as well as the fact that many nations have chosen this as well.
The idea of people, especially children, not having proper health care to ensure a healthy and happy life is very saddening to me. There are many incredible treatments and medicines currently available, and being created, that they should not be restricted to those that are fortunate enough to have a job that provides health care. With the current situation with the Unites States economy this is especially bad being that many people do not even have a job. How can a country that boasts being such an amazing place to live watch less fortunate citizens dying and suffering for the sake of others being wealthy from it. We are a country that when times get rough we help our neighbors in knowing that any of us can run into bad situations as well. Those that are facing the hard times and bad luck but want to work and be self sufficient is what makes me support universal healthcare.
Now there are some issues and concerns with aspects of universal health care to address. The people who do not want to be self reliant and take advantage of social programs is the biggest threat. Universal health care should be something that is allotted for those in the process of attempting to gain employment or afford health care that is not through the government. If universal health care is approached with this in mind and has regulations to avoid people from taking advantage of it I feel that it will not have a serious effect on the budget and deficit. Another provision of the US health care reform is the requirement of health insurance, I am against this. If someone does not wish to pay for health care through their employer or for affordable health care through a government option that is their choice. If in the future a medical issue occurred, they would have to face the issue of lacking health care and its consequences.
Universal health care is something that we should have in the United States. I do not feel the form needs to be in what the current US health reforms are in; but there should be some type of it with my considerations taken into thought.
