Country music groups: Lady Antebellum
Originating from Nashville in Tennessee, Lady Antebellum is a country music trio consisting of lead singer Charles Kelley, guitarist and pianist Dave Haywood, and Hillary Scott who is also one of the lead singers.
Despite forming in 2006 and critically renowned in the country music scene, it wasn’t until their huge success at the 53rd Grammy Awards this year that the world finally took notice. Their five Grammys included the highly prized Song of the Year and Record of the Year for their second studio album, Need You Now, upsetting the likes of rapper Jay-Z, Eminem and Rihanna, and pop artists Bruno Mars and Cee-Lo Green.
Lady Antelbellum quickly rose to fame when they featured on Jim Brickman’s single “Never Alone” in 2007. After signing to Capitol Records, the trio released their debut eponymous album with their single “Love Don’t Live Here”, which shot straight to number three on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs. It was also the first time an album by a country group debuted at number one in its first week on the Top Country Albums chart. In America, Lady Antebellum is a certified platinum record. Their other hits include “I Run To You” and “Looking For A Good Time”.
But like most musicians, it was Lady Antebellum’s follow-up album that gave them international stardom and those coveted five Grammy Awards. Released in 2010, Need You Now went to number one on the Billboard 200 charts, the third best-selling album in 2010 behind Susan Boyle and rapper Eminen. The RIAA certified the album as 3x platinum in the US, it also went platinum in Australia and 2x platinum in Canada.
Riding on their success, the group are back in the studio to work on their third album. They recently released a new single, “Just A Kiss” which will feature on their forthcoming album.
