Eco-friendly water bottles & jumbo shrimp – What do they have in common?
They’re both oxymorons. A jumbo shrimp isn’t big and an environmentall-friendly bottle isn’t very good for the ecosystem. Don’t believe the marketing and pr build up. An eco-friendly bottle isn’t more eco-friendly than a typical old plastic material bottle.
With all of the unfavorable information and content about bottled water, do we need to remind you again why bottled water is bad? Remember that regardless of whether it’s named an “environmentally-friendly” bottle or an unfriendly bottle, it’s still a bottle, which unfortunately suggests it’s still a burden on the environment and a waste of resources. not to mention an overall health threat.
Want more information? Let’s count the top 7 points why plastic bottles, of any form, size and formula are bad for the ecosystem and harmful to you.
Bottled water squanders:
7. Energy –
Bottled water eats a substantial quantity of energy. How do you think that those 5-gallon clear plastic jugs get fabricated, transported and stored?
6. Water –
Bottled water uses, on average, a gallon of water in order to make a gallon of bottled water.
5. Oil –
1,500,000 barrels of oil are used per year to produce plastic bottles. That’s a large amount of oil.
4. Fuel –
Fuel is utilised to carry these water bottles around to area organizations. There’s no real reason to transport water around on vehicles.
Bottled water produces:
3. Greenhouse gases –
Transporting water bottles around is a significant origin of greenhouse gas wastes. What are greenhouse gases? These gases, such as methane, nitrous oxide or various fluorinated gases trap warmth in the atmosphere and contribute to global warming.
2. Trash –
In spite of all of the marketing surrounding recycling, 80% of plastic water jugs continue to end up in our landfills. When you include industrial waste from bottle production and the packaging needed to drive bottles all around, loads of landfill waste are generated. Don’t assume this percentage will change simply because the press release states that the bottles are “a less arduous plastic to recycle.”
1. Health Hazards –
And if all the ecological problems weren’t adequate, add on the health problems that come along with bottled water. One of the big health issues surrounds BPA, more generally known as Bisphenol-A. BPA is a key ingredient in those hefty, hard 5-gallon water jugs you notice in offices around the united states. A number of scientific studies conducted link BPA to health hazards, including cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and others. Why is BPA so unsafe? Because BPA has been demonstrated to leach from bottles into the water you drink, notably when hot (a delivery vehicle, many storage locations). Even Dr. Oz, after testing, believes that bottled water can cause cancer and may possibly in fact be nothing more than ordinary tap water.
We could continue, but you get the idea. Bottles are not environmentally-friendly or consumer-friendly. Instead, look for POU (point-of-use) water dispensers. Choose wisely – your wellness depends on it.
