Compact executive – satisfaction guaranteed
How satisfied car owners are with their vehicles is for many an important measure to consider when they’re out looking for a new car. What Car? magazine recently published their annual vehicle owner satisfaction study where over 16, 500 car owners were asked to rate their cars according to certain set criteria pertaining to quality and reliability, costs, appeal and service satisfaction. The overall winner was the Lexus IS with Lexus being the top manufacturer overall.
Being the top rated car overall, the Lexus IS also won top spot in its own category, the compact executive. The overall satisfaction rating was 85.4 percent scoring high with IS drivers for interior quality, courteous dealers and excellent servicing. On the negative side owners noted noisy ventilation system, too much tyre wear and high fuel consumption. But the latter was combated with low insurance and servicing costs.
Runner up in the compact executive class was the Mercedes-Benz C-Class which received a satisfaction rating of 83.1 percent. This means that the Mercedes held on to the spot it got last year. Excellent interior quality, great exterior looks and friendly dealerships was what owners of a new Mercedes-Benz praised the most while the cost of a visit to the workshop was one of the things owners where least satisfied with.
Number three in this category was BMW with its BMW 3 series. Low running costs and great interior quality helped BMW to a satisfaction rating of 81.9 percent but dealers where rated relatively low.
The top five in the compact executive category was completed with the Jaguar X-type and the Mercedes-Benz CLC.
