Meta KA
Ford unveiled the KA in 1996, it is Ford’s contribution to the super-mini sector. Since its inception it has grown in popularity amongst female drivers and new drivers. The 1st generation KA was so popular that Ford decided not to renew it for over 10 years. Why fix something if it’s not broken?
The new Ford KA has been with us since 2008; it still retains much of the quirkiness of the 1st generation but is more grown up. The new KA is built by Fiat for Ford, alongside the Fiat 500. Even though the KA and Fiat 500 share the same underpinnings both look visually very different.
Throughout its lifespan Ford intent to introduce special edition models of the Ford KA in Kent. I quite like the Ford Metal KA. According to Ford it will bring style inside and out to Britain’s roads, it has been out since March and I haven’t seen one in flesh yet.
The Metal KA is a replacement for the Tattoo model and sits alongside the Grand Prix and Digital variations. Like the other two special edition models the Metal KA adds an extra layer of style and fun to Ka for customers who want to make a bolder statement.
Using the KA Zetec model as a base, the Ford Metal Ka combines dark, glossy and metallic elements to give customers an expressive and contemporary package that includes exterior and interior treatments.
Martin Smith, Ford of Europe’s executive design director said, “With Metal Ka we’re looking at fashion and also a little bit of luxury. You often see high gloss black in large and luxury segment cars but combined with the chrome this is something that is really fun.”
