Where to buy a used car
It is not always that easy to decide whether to buy a new or a used vehicle as buying used can offer the best value for money while buying new can give you a car to your exact specifications.
But if you want to save some money there’s no better way than choosing a used car. You don’t have to pay showroom-tax, there’s no need to ‘run-in’ the car, and nearly-new cars have already had their significant drop in value so the car you get should hold its value well. In addition there’s usually a wide variety of cars to choose from and most are available to drive away immediately.
On the negative side however there’s less chance of a warranty and there might be a hidden history to the car which goes undisclosed. You also probably won’t get a car to your exact specifications and rare models might be harder to come by.
But if you’ve decide to buy a used car there are numerous places you can get one from. A car dealership such as Taggarts Land Rover Coatbridge will usually have a stock of used cars on offer in addition to their new cars. Many of these will be from the car maker they’re affiliated with so they will be able to offer you good product insight as well as good customer service, finance deals and warranties.
A second option is a used car dealer who usually has a small number of cars for sale ranging in price, size and type. You usually pay less than you would at a main dealer. There are also used car supermarkets available with less customer service but with great savings available. You could also try out car auctions but unless you’re knowledgeable about cars this might prove risky.
Perhaps the best route to finding a bargain price car is to buy from a private seller. But as private sales aren’t covered by specific laws, there’s little comeback if the deal turns sour.
In addition to the above there are other schemes available such as used approved cars and pre-registered cars which tend to involve low-mileage cars and are sold through main dealers.
Whatever route you choose to buy a used car, make sure you take it for a test drive and haggle to get the best possible price.
