ArchPort Yogistash
Normally I detest flip-flops. I hate the way they feel between my toes. I hate the way they slide around on my feet as I walk, drive, sit, etc. I hate the sound they make– “fwap, fwap, fwap, fwap”– and the way it reverberates as someone walks down the aisle at the grocery store. Seriously, my dislike for flip-flops knows no boundaries. But never let it be said that I put my prejudices over practicality.
These ArchPort Yogistash flip-flops are nothing if not practical. The line was invented by Matt Potts around a decade ago– i.e. just before 9/11 and “shoe bomber” Richard Reid put everyone on high alert for anything suspicious while traveling– but remains ingenious in its crafty simplicity. Constructed with a similar approach to arch support as Skechers’ Shape-Ups, each ArchPort shoe has a velcro-sealed secret stash compartment perfectly sized for hiding hotel room keys, driver’s license and credit cards, cash, or even an iPod, and comes with a tiny plastic bag to keep them all dry.
The new bottle opener sandals line comes with an added bonus for us outdoorsy types, a multi-purpose pocket survival tool. Made of stainless steel, the business card-sized tool includes a can opener, screwdriver, bottle cap opener, 4-position wrench, saw blade, knife edge and more, making it a compact-but-handy accessory for those who like to explore without being burdened by a pack full of crap.
These added features may not necessarily change the way I feel about stash sandals in general. But it has changed one thing: Now, I actually wear them, which is a HUGE testament to how cool, comfortable and convenient the ArchPort Yogistash flip-flops are.
