Couples all over the UK can be enjoying better sex according to the latest research.
With an estimated 3 million women in the UK suffering from irritation during sex due to a deficiency of lubrication, a water based, organic lube provides a solution through its one-of-a-kind formulation – and whats more, 90% of couples agree.
As some 65% of menopausal and post menopausal women are suffering from vaginal dryness, psychosexual therapists suspect that the soreness caused by a lack of lubrication during sex can lead to feelings of isolation and rejection inside of relationships.
Some lubricants have been designed to not just improve intercourse, but also address the issues of an increasing number of people who are worried about the ingredients found in personal care products. The organic, natural ingredients found in a select few lubes or lubricants will not upset the skin.
With 60% of what we put on our skin being absorbed in to our bodies, there are ever increasing concerns about the use of artificial preservatives, such as parabens – which numerous experts believe are linked to breast cancer, and the effects of known irritants such as glycerine and glycols. Decide on a lubricant which addresses these uncertainties through the use of organic, chemical-free, extremely high quality ingredients and has been awarded the influential Soil Association certificate.
You wouldn’t knowingly eat or drink something that you knew contained potentially harmful ingredients, would you?
So why would you apply them to intimate parts of your body?
Many personal care products consist of artificial preservatives, such as parabens (which lots of professionals suspect are linked to breast cancer) and glycerine and glycols – which are known irritants.
A select few lubes include Carageenan, which is an ingredient that has been found to inhibit the sexually transmitted human papillomavirus infections (HPV). In a report entitled Carrageenan Is a Potent Inhibitor of Papillomavirus Infection (2006) by Christopher B. Buck, Cynthia D. Thompson, Jeffrey N. Roberts, Martin M?ller, Douglas R. Lowy and John T. Schiller, Carrageenan was found to be active against the range of common sexually transmitted HPV types that can cause cervical cancer and genital warts.

Some illustrative research of known sensitivities and side effects:
. Parabens: Oestrogenic, linked to breast cancer: researchers led by Dr. Philippa Darbre (Univ.of Reading) studied samples of 20 different human breast tumours – intact parabens were detected in all samples (Journal of Applied Toxicology 2004)
. Glycols: clinical review showed propylene glycol causes a significant number of reactions and was a primary irritant to the skin even in low levels of concentrations.(The American Academy of Dermatologists Jan.1991): shown to inhibit skin cells growth in human tests and cell respiration in animal tests (J. Pharm. Belg. Nov/Dec 1989).
. Grapefruit Seed Extract: research has shown that any preservative effect is due to presence of methyl parabene (see above) and benzethonium chloride described as a ‘suspected endocrine toxicant’ (Pharmazie. 1999 Jun;54(6):452-6: von Woedtke T, Schluter B, Institute of Pharmacy, Ernst Moritz Arndt University, Greifswald, Germany).
