Playground
My children go to a medium sized school which is located in the centre of the town. I am a single parent and since my first child went to school I have become very involved with the Parent Teachers Association and other such committees. It feels nice to be having an input into the school where my children are being educated.
The meetings are held once a month and various matters are discussed. Fundraising, school social events and distribution of funds. Just recently the school have received some money from a former teacher who has recently passed away. They wanted the funds to be used to build a playground for school use only. The school is situated in a deprived area and as such the nearest playground is a 20 minute walk. The current playground is situated on a main road and has heavy lorries reversing into the nearby Secure Self Storage. It is far from ideal.
I have been chosen as one of the team members to work on the playground project. It is very exciting. I have been given the task of sourcing prices for soft play flooring and items such as swings, slides and roundabouts. We want to be be conscious of both quality and price. Everything needs to be super safe and have passed a variety of safety checks. Once all the information has been collated the PTA will have a meeting and decide what the next steps should be. Lets hope this is something which our children can enjoy and will be passed on to the next generation.
