My father invented the people carrier.
Did you know that my father invented the people carrier? Many people think that the Renault Espace was the first such Nissan Dealerships car in Europe but they are mistaken, it was indeed my dad. He transformed our white transit van into the first ever people carrier of its kind. He cut customized windows in the side of the vehicle and screwed benches to the floor for my sister and brothers to sit on. We packed a picnic and jumped in. The first people carrier had been born.
Obviously this was during in a time where a child without seatbelt wasn’t seen as neglected and copping a few bruises from flying forward as dad stepped on the breaks was all just part of the fun. These days it has all been ruined and every car must be lined with air-bags and cotton wool. Children seem to have become much less resilient and cannot even ride over their own lawn without helmet, elbow pads, knee pads and a gum shield.
Perhaps I a being a little silly but I know there are some that will appreciate what I am saying. Children are becoming more mollycoddled everyday. They all seem to have asthma or allergies or behavioural problems. What ever happened to put up and shut up. I know that children are very precious to us parents but I do think we need to toughen up just a little or they will never be ready for the real world which awaits them.
