Chicago Chevy Equinox dealer ready to celebrate Camaro anniversary
Representing the epitome of the muscle car era, the Chevy Camaro is a car we all know and love. Immortalized in music, cheesy posters and TV shows, the Camaro has kept a low profile for the last couple of decades.
The oil crisis of the 1970s caused the muscle car industry to take a big hit, but the Camaro has survived and now celebrates its 45th birthday. Customers of Itasca used cars will see some changes that move the Camaro back closer to its roots.
Yes, Chevrolet is not only celebrating one of its most beloved models ever, but is giving it more power, with a V6 in the 2012 model which will increase horsepower from 312 to 323. The good news for everyone is that the Camaro will still be efficient with a rating of 30 mpg on the highway.
Your Chicago Chevy Equinox dealer is excited to see the introduction of the 2012 Camaro and likes the updated look. One the outside the striped trunk will grab your attention and the 20-inch rims will keep you riveted. A sweet spoiler and HID headlights complete the look.
Moving inside, you will find the 45th Anniversary logo on everything. To show that Chevy is still all-American, the new Camaro has red, white and blue accent stitching on the steering wheel, armrests, seats, console and shift boot.
Those who find this to be a bit much are not the target audience for the 2012 Camaro. Chevy seems to be aiming for the nostalgia crowd. They are, after all, the ones who might be able to afford to buy this as a show car – just for fun.
Itasca used cars buyers will like the engine choice, the General Motors 3.6-liter V6, which in the Camaro is called the LFX. A new suspension brings back the front and rear dampers and offers anti-roll bars in front and rear.
For Chicago Chevy Equinox owners, this may seem like a frivolous vehicle, but again, Chevy is playing the nostalgia card. This will also attract some of the younger buyers who aren’t obsesses with being green and appreciate the power machines their parents may have driven ‘back in the day’.
One thing that won’t bring back memories is the standard steering wheel the new Camaro is sporting. The classic deep steering wheel that we all associate with the muscle car has been replaced. (Sigh.) The dash also has been updated – compartmentalized, if you will, and looks much nicer.
With the spoiler added, a cool touch, I must admit, the visibility is compromised. So Chevy put in the rearview camera system which displays an image on a screen built into the rearview mirror.
