Fairfax Mercedes-Benz drivers can warm up with the newest SLK class convertible

The temperature is heating up across the country and even though the winter season brought its fair share of cold weather and snow to the region, summer seems to be quickly on its way. What is a better way to celebrate the beginning of summer than details about the newest Mercedes-Benz sports car? The SLK is the perfect summer car with its hardtop retractable roof and powerful engine and the Burke Mercedes dealership is certain many drivers will be interested in the SLK class.

The 2012 SLK class is the Mercedes-Benz newest sports roadster in the automaker’s lineup for 2012. The exterior on the SLK has an upright grille, which resembles the SLS and CLS models. The center panel on the retractable roof has three optional varieties including body-color metal, dark-tinted glass or the variable-tint “Magic Sky Control” glass. The innovative Magic Sky Control automatically adjusts the tinting on the glass panels from fully transparent to nearly opaque when the driver presses a button. The Magic Sky Control feature allows a driver to experience open-roof driving even in the less-than-perfect weather conditions.

“The new SLK embodies the role of the trend-setter like no other car”, Dr. Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars said in a company statement. “I am convinced that with its passionate design, its high-quality interior and its modesty at the fuel station it will continue to provide an enormous amount of fun on the road in future, too, consolidating its status as a cult roadster.”

The SLK interior is outfitted with aluminum trim covers on the center console or there is the option for a wood trim. The display screen for the communications and entertainment functions is on the center of the dashboard, which makes it easily accessible to Fairfax Mercedes-Benz passengers and drivers.

The Burke Mercedes dealership is excited that the Mercedes-Benz interior is also equipped with the innovative Airscarf system, which blows hot air on the driver and passenger’s necks. The Airscarf system ensures that there is no longer a temperature that is too cold to drive with the top down. Even at 40˚F, drivers and passengers can enjoy the wind in their hair, while feeling like they have a scarf surrounding their necks to keep them warm.

Fairfax Mercedes-Benz drivers know that Mercedes-Benz produces powerful cars and the SLK class is no exception. A 3.5-liter V-6 direct injection engine powers the SLK350 to 302 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. The SLK sprints from zero to 60 miles per hour in a mere 5.4 seconds. The sports suspension adds to the sporty driving experience on the SLK class.

The Mercedes-Benz SLK class also has plenty of new safety features including Attention Assist, Distronic Plus and Pre-Safe Brake. The Attention Assist feature comes standard and is a drowsiness detection system that alerts the driver when the sensors notice that the driver might be drowsy. Distronic Plus and Pre-Safe brake are optional safety features that can automatically brake in the event of an imminent rear-end collision.

The Mercedes-Benz SLK class combines power, comfort, safety and luxury into the sporty roadster, which is due out in Summer 2011. The newest addition to the Mercedes-Benz convertible series is sure to make any driver forget about the long winter and forge full-speed into the summer months.
