The stretched out Fiesta

For has been manufacturing and selling the For Fusion since 2002. In essence the Fusion is a stretched out Ford Fiesta. It has elements of an estate car and MPV making it more practical than a Fiesta yet smaller than a Focus.

The Fusion is taller, has increased ground clearance and a higher roof line. All these combine to make the Fusion roomier and more comfortable for taller drivers than regular super minis.
Ford introduced a revamped model of the Fusion in 2005; a few mainly cosmetic changes were made. Front and rear lights feature new detailing, the bumpers, side mouldings and door mirrors were also modified. Some new technology and gadgets were also added such as power-folding mirrors, automatic and ‘home-safe’ headlights, automatic windscreen wipers, Bluetooth with voice control, Trip computer, MP3 player connectivity and the Electronic Stability Program.

The Fusion is available with three engine choices, 1.4 litre and 1.6 litre petrol engines and a 1,4 litre diesel units make the line up. None of the engines make the Fusion a hot hatch but it is very comfortable around town. Even on the motorway the Fusion doesn’t disappoint, the Ford Fusion in Sussex with the diesel engine is probably the better choice as it has a lot of low end grunt.
Ford based the Fusion on the Fiesta and, the Fiesta is a lovely car to drive. Due to its size and height the Fusion is not as good to drive as the Fiesta but to be fair that is a tough ask. If you are looking for practicality but don’t want a Focus then the Ford Fusion is the perfect car for you.
