Travel to Sedona
Sedona is located 280 miles southeast of the Las Vegas airport and 120 miles north of Phoenix airport. Most of the tourists rent a car and drive up to Sedona by flying into Phoenix. You can also hire a shuttle available to Sedona from Phoenix. Going to Sedona by car is the best option, although there is also a taxi service and Sedona trolley to reach Sedona.

Physical Environment
There is a mid four season climate in Sedona and it’s located at the foot of the huge Colorado plateau among red rock canyons. Outdoor free time opportunities and terrific hiking trails are offered by the area neighboring Sedona.
Sedona History
Human settlement in Sedona goes to about 10,000 years ago, when hunter gatherers roamed the area. Hokoham and Sinagua farmers built several major villages in the Verde valley and started growing their crops here over 1000 years ago. They started trade routes extending to the pacific coast and southward to Central America. However, by the time the Spanish conquerors arrived in late 16th century, the farmers had already moved on and the Yavapai people had moved in.
By 20th century, about fifteen homesteading families known as the area home T.C. Schnebly arrived in 1899 and bought eighty acres along Oak Creek where the Los Abrigados and Tlaquepaque resorts are now situated. Schnebly opened a hotel and general store on the property and soon realized that there was a need for regular mail service. Using several other names for the community, Schnebly submitted applications with the postmaster general. The name Sedona was officially approved by the postmaster on June 26, 1902.
