The Goodwood Festival of Speed
The new Vauxhall Astra GTC will be making its special debut at the 2011 Goodwood Festival of Speed, two months before the official world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
The announcement came after it was said that the order books have opened for UK customers for the Vauxhall Astra GTC, which was first previewed as the GTC Paris Concept at last year’s Paris Motor Show. The prices for the Vauxhall Astra GTC, which is based on the 2010 GTC Paris concept starts at £18,495.
Show-goers at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, will see the Vauxhall Astra GTC be driven by Vauxhall’s chief chassis engineer, climb up the Festival’s hillclimb track twice a day from 1st July to 3rd July 2011, and when it’s not on the track, the GTC will be on show in the Cathedral Paddock.
The Vauxhall Astra in Aberdeen features a revised chassis and sleek all new body. It follows in a line of Vauxhall’s sporting three door coupes, including the Vauxhall Astra GTE, the Firenza and the Chevette 2300HS.
The first Extended-Range Electric Vehicle to go on sale in the UK, the Vauxhall Ampera E-REV will also be joining the Vauxhall Astra GTC, it will demonstrate on the hillclimb track and on show in the FoS Tech Pavilion. It will offer the option zero tailpipe emissions with a combined range of up to 250 miles.
Also at the show will the Vauxhall VXR concept from 1966, which will be entered in this year’s Cartier ‘Style et Luxe’.
