The Skoda Roomster
The Skoda Roomster is a five door, five seater Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV) and a leisure activity vehicle. The Roomster has been on sale since 2006. The Roomster was the first Skoda vehicle to be produced that is not based entirely on an existing VW Group platform. It shares components with the Skoda Octavia and the Skoda Fabia.
Due to the fact that the Roomster fits in both the MPV and leisure activity vehicle it has a lot more competition and this competition is very tough. In the same market you have the Nissan Note, Vauxhall Meriva, Citroën C3 Picasso and Volkswagen Golf Plus – all very good cars in their own right.
The Skoda Roomster was the only a handful of inexpensive cars that Jeremy Clarkson liked. Clarkson commented on the flexibility of use the Skoda Roomster offered. The Roomster comes with an option of three petrol engines or 2 diesel ones. The petrol units come in the form of 1.2 litre units with or without turbo charging. The diesel engines are 1.6 litre turbo units with power starting from 89bhp.
The Roomster has a unique seating format, the rear ‘VarioFlex’ seat arrangement are taller than the front seats and can be folded in a 40-20-40 split configuration, instead of the more usual 40-60, and can also be moved longitudinally and transversally.
The current Roomster model has been around for almost five years now so there is some very good used Skoda Roomster in Buckinghamshire deals available. It’s nice to see a unique car on the roads; it definitely stands out from the other MPV models out there.
