Supernatural season 6 dvd started with “Exile on Main Street”. We saw Dean and his life with Lisa and Ben a year after Dean and Sam stopped the apocalypse by Sam jumping into the hole and allowing himself and Lucifer to be locked in a cage in hell. We know that Sam is back- but Dean initially does not. He is coping day to day but we see that he is not whole. He has nightmares about his past and cannot shake how responsible he feels still for his brother. He is drinking – a lot – to numb the pain. In the midst of normalcy- his past comes back to haunt him. He starts seeing things and begins a hunt. We find out he has been poisoned by a Jinn when Sam comes in and saves him. Dean is shocked. His brother is alive- and apparently didn’t feel the need to tell him about it. He says it was to protect Dean and give Dean a way out. We learn that Sam has not been working alone. He is working with family.
three of season 6 is “The Third Man”. We find out that Castiel has his hands full in heaven. Not all of the angels are keen on life going on – they still want the apocalypse to happen and there is civil war as a result. Cass comes to earth to help the guys find an angelic weapon that is being used to smite people. When they find that the one doing the smiting is a young boy who sold his soul to an angel to get vengeance for his brother- Dean is appalled when neither Sam or Cass have any problems putting the boy through a painful experience to get information from him. They find the angel making deals. Sebastian Roche is no stranger to playing shady characters- he is the angel Balthazar ( not to be confused with the source of all evil Belthazor on Charmed). Balthazar has decided that he wants out of the heaven and hell thing and is buying up souls as a power play. Cass is not happy but when he gets his brother to release the boy’s soul and return the weapon he lets him go. The funny part of this season is Sam whining about trying to reach Cass and not succeeding and Dean gets him on the first try. The bad part- the angels are too busy to help much with the chaos on earth.
