Everything’s Gone to the Dogs
People love their pets, don’t they? You do not have to look very far online or on the street to notice that people are very attached to their pets these days. They dress them in little sweaters and even push them around in specialized doggy (or kitty) strollers. Some might think this is a bit overboard, however this love of pets provides you with a great opportunity to create a business!
If you are also an animal lover, there are many people who would gladly pay for you to take care of their pet while they are at work or on vacation. Some people also find great success just walking other peoples’ dogs. The great thing about the pet industry is that you can surely branch out if your business takes off. You can employ other people who can help you handle all of the tasks as well.
For instance, most people would much rather that their pets are able to stay in their own home rather than going to a kennel. Let’s face it, dogs and cats either get sick or stay anxious the whole time they are at a kennel. It just isn’t home! You can offer pet owners a wonderful service if you charge a daily rate to come into the home, feed the pets and spend some time loving on them. A typically kennel charges at least $25-$45 per day per pet (depending on where you live). If you charged a flat rate (say $20 a day) and you could handle going to 2-3 homes then that is a great side income.
You could have up-charges as well such as taking them for walks, spending time outside playing with them, grooming, etc. Pet owners are a fantastic group to build your business around because pets will always be a part of the family!
