Human beings are likely to develop nasopharyngeal cancer, myeloid leukemia from overexposure to formaldehyde. Cancer from formaldehyde will depend on the amount of exposure to it and also depends on several other factors. Formaldehyde is available in salons and not sold locally. However many complain of burning sensation of eyes and nose and also loss of hair. Many organizations are creating awareness about the ill effects of hair straightening treatment. Many health agencies are trying to stop the sale of these solutions. The permissible limit of formaldehyde is about 0.2 percent however many products were found to contain higher amounts of formaldehyde. Women should realize that not everybody is blessed with straight hair and that does not mean that they have to harm themselves in the process to get straight hair. Blow drying hair and using hot iron on hair are the many steps to get straight hair However most of them end with damaging the hair badly. Make sure that you choose a product with lower levels of formaldehyde.

However there is another kind of treatment that is doing the rounds now and is popularly known as blowout treatment. The blowout treatment also contains formaldehyde and considered to be harmful for the hair. Some of the women who have done blowout treatment complained of redness in eyes and said that they suffered from cough. The blowout treatment is quite popular among women as it can tame unruly curls in a woman for month’s end. The Brazilian blowout treatment became immensely popular with women in Brazil who have curly locks and have to constantly take a lot of effort to style their hair in humid conditions. This blowout treatment works well in women who have tried hard to keep their frizzy locks under control. This treatment sometimes lasts for months. Many salons are not in favor of these blowout treatments as they use formaldehyde and have stopped blowout treatment altogether.
