New Volkswagen Passat BlueMotion
Volkswagen has announced that the new Volkswagen Passat BlueMotion and the new VW Passat Estate BlueMotion models will be ready for order imminently with deliveries starting towards the end of July 2011.
The BlueMotion Passat features a modified 1.6 litre common rail TDI engine producing 105PS with a six speed manual gearbox. The Volkswagen Passat BlueMotion model features aerodynamic improvements and modifications which reduce drag, including low rolling resistance tyres, lowered suspension. As well as a revised radiator and under body panel, it also features a rear spoiler.
The Passat BlueMotion comes as standard with 16 inch lightweight and aerodynamic steel rims, optional 17 inch ‘Buenos Aires’ alloy wheels available at an additional cost. These modifications and enhancements mean that the BlueMotion Passat will have a combined fuel consumption of 68.9mpg for the saloon and 65.7mpg for the estate. CO2 emissions are 109g/km (VED band B) and 113g/km (VED band C) for the saloon and estate respectively.
The BlueMotion models will cost only £220 over the Volkswagen Passat S models they are based on, and come as standard with curtain airbags, ESP, ‘Climatic’ air conditioning, electric windows, electronic parking brake, RCD 310 radio / CD player and Multi Device Interface (MDI) with iPod connectivity. Optional technologies include fatigue detection system with cruise control, Part Assist II and High Beam Assist.
Like all Volkswagen cars the new BlueMotion models are available through Volkswagen Finance and with free servicing for three years or 30,000. With its competitive pricing and admirable fuel consumption figures it will be hard to resist the BlueMotion models over the others.
