Accessories guide for off-road vehicles

Being productive with an off-road vehicle in treacherous terrain may depend mostly on what car is being driven, but without the right accessories progress can become annoyingly slow and, occasionally, limit the car’s capabilities to perform in difficult environments.

To discover what kind of accessories are most beneficial when driving off-road, we thought we’d take a look at what’s available for perhaps the most iconic rural vehicle of all-time, the Land Rover Defender, to see how they change the overall feel and comfort of the car and, ultimately, the ability to perform when tested to the fullest.

Comforting extras

Floor mats – The Land Rover Defender ssparse styling may be one of the reason’s it’s such a design classic, but adding floor mats will not only protect that stylish footwell, but also add a touch of extra comfort.

Window Tinting – Window tinting can give any rural vehicle a touch of inner-city glamour done in the right way, but can also protect interiors getting damaged by the natural effects of sunlight over time. Can also make you feel a bit like a celebrity, which is good.

Seat Covers – Seat covers have become a bit more refined since the days of those beaded abominations people used to pick up in petrol stations in the 80s. Good quality seat covers can make a big difference to the overall feeling of the cabin, as well as adding value by protecting the car’s original upholstery.

In-car sound system – for many people, driving a beautiful car is incomplete without top notch sound to accompany it. Ask your car dealer what high-end options they offer, or you could replace the standard sound system with a good value deal found online.

Performance extras

Roof rack system – A high quality roof rack system automatically changes an off-road car’s haulage capacity greatly, meaning those kayaking and snowboarding trips are easier to navigate and generally more manageable.

Aluminum undercover – Provides under-engine protection when driving off-road. Perfect for keeping the underbelly of your car free from debris and, potential damage to key components.

Snow Chains – Give improved steering and braking control on snow and ice, when fitted to front wheels (can also be fitted to rear wheels when necessary). Most are easy to fit, and are manufactured from high quality hardened galvanised steel.
