Provence: A Great Holiday Destination

Provence is such a great place for a holiday because its easy to get there from Manchester thanks to the cheap flights that leave daily from Manchester airport, and then once you’re there you’ll be blown away by the beauty of the countryside and deliciousness of the food. If you are flying out of Manchester airport hotel parking can sometimes prove to be a bit of a nightmare, but a way to negate this issue is to book a room at the Hilton the night before your departure using their parka and fly package. This means that you will get two week free parking as part of the deal and they will give you a lift to the terminal in a private shuttle bus so you can be sure of arriving in time to catch your flight in style and comfort. There are also cheap flights to Marseilles from East Midlands airport, and if you are going to catch a flight from East Midlands airport hotel parking can again be difficult, but the Hilton also have an airport hotel here and again I would recommend using their park and fly package.
Once you arrive in Provence, there are various places that you could head to enjoy the local delicacies such as unbelievably delicious wine, frois grois, the freshest vegetables and delightfully tender meats, all prepared to the highest standard by local masters of cuisine. The local tradition is to take a full two hours for lunch from two to four, which just shows how much they care about their food. And they care so much about their food because they really know how to cook it. Try the smoked wild boar, its sensational.
If you are looking for somewhere to visit for sites and a bit of history, the old town of Les Baux, situated on top of a small mountain with views for miles, has a sense of history steeped into the stone ruins that cannot be matched anywhere in Britain. But wherever you go in Provence you can’t really go wrong, because the locals are all so welcoming and friendly, and they really know how to cook.
