The Importance of Videos & WebTV Commercials
Only in the last six months has Google really started to develop its video results, and this just goes to show the ever changing face of search engine optimisation.
It used to be that there were three places to get onto the first page of Google for.
1) Google Maps
2) Google Adwords
3) Organic listings, the ones most people refer to when they say ‘first page Google’.
Now, however, there is a forth place. Google Video Results.
In fact there is not other way to put it: Google loves videos. It promotes videos by themselves and you will often see links to Youtube, Daily Motion and various other video hosting websites on the ever illusive first page; but it also promotes websites that have video content. So not only do videos get onto the first page themselves but they can be used as search engine optimisation tool as well.
There are actually examples of websites on the first page of Google purely because of their video content. They have average to poor keywording and very few incoming links; yet still get placed in the number one or number two spots. It just goes to show how important videos really are.
So in order to get onto the first page of Google and secure that place, it is an imperative that you have video content. Without it you are likely to get surpassed by your competition.
Take advantage of the power of Youtube. Videos don’t need to be expensive and have a similar budget as a Hollywood blockbuster to boost your rankings; they just need to exist.
