Hotels for the 2012 London Olympics
As you may very well know, on July 6th 2005, London was announced as home to the 2012 Olympic Games having held it previously in 1908 and 1948. If you are lucky enough to be watching the Olympics or even to be involved, then you will need accommodation during this momentous event.
London has a wide selection of hotels to choose from ranging from mediocre standard bedrooms all the way up to glamorous five star villas, however even the highest star hotels may not be the best option if you’re going to be watching the Olympic Games so here are a few things to keep in mind when making your selection.
. Location – You may or may not know, but the entire London Olympics aren’t all competed in the same place; they are scattered over London and some outdoor sports are competed outside of London. However the Olympic Stadium is a good place to start as this will be the main venue and houses the Athletics competition. Another thing you may want to note about your hotels location is distance from the nearest train station. The London Underground railway is the main mode of transport for commuters in London and having a hotel close to a train station would be very useful for getting around.
. Quality – If you are looking for luxury hotels in London, you should book early as they will be booked up very quickly and you may miss out. The hotels in London will have star ratings, rated on the overall service they provide. However if you are looking for a hotel that caters directly to your needs, then a bespoke hotel may be just what you need. Say you are a lover of great dining and fine wine, or want a chic apartment to yourself, then you could find a bespoke hotel to suit you.
. Value for money – Although you don’t want to be sleeping on the street, you don’t want to be paying through the nose for a five star hotel if you’re not getting your value for money. Before you book your hotel, check online for customer feedback of people who have stayed at that hotel before, you may find this in forums or other means. The customer feedback could tell you about any problems previous guests have had, such as poor service or expensive extras which could save you a small fortune.
Take your time when choosing your accommodation, a luxury hotel might be what you want so book early and if you’re lucky there may still be London boutique hotels available.
