Popular Tourist Beaches in the UK
Britain isn’t known for having amazing weather but when the sun does come, everyone heads to the beach. There are plenty of popular tourist destinations in Britain for those sunny days when everyone is piling onto the sand, but some are better than others. It depends what you want from your visit, so take a look at some of the best beaches in the UK and what they have to offer. Here is a run-through of some of the best beaches you can visit this Summer:
Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Lancashire
Starting with the most popular of all UK beaches, Blackpool is an extremely popular tourist destination and with over 125 rides and shows, there’s no wonder why. Pleasure Beach is situated along the South Shore area of Blackpool along the Fylde coast. It is home to some of the UK’s best rollercoaster’s and is a great family tourist destination, with the new addition of Nickelodeon Land for kids, to white knuckle rides for the adults such as the Pepsi Max and Pleasure Beach’s first suspended looping roller coaster, Infusion!
West Kirby, Wirral
West Kirby offers a great retreat for safe swimming, with crystal clear water and lots of things to do. Across from West Kirby beach, you can see an extraordinary view of the Snowdon mountain range in Wales. It is also the starting point for Hilbre Island wildlife sanctuary, a great spot for bird-watchers. If the beautiful scenery and swimming isn’t enough for you, West Kirby beach is also situated right next to Hoylake beach which is a great place to see sand yachters and paragliders catching the air rushing up the dropping coast-line
Rock, Cornwall.
If you are looking to spot some celebs in the sand, then Rock in Cornwall is probably your best bet. Celebrities have often been seen perusing this picturesque town and with so much to offer it’s hard to see why. Rock is home to the Camel estuary, a great place for wind-surfing, sailing and fishing with a highly esteemed fishing shop that sells a wide selection for the professional angler. Rock is also home to a selection of luxury hotels for you to rest your head in-between the sight-seeing.
Weston-Super-Mare, Somerset
Family-fun is the biggest selling point of Weston-super-mare, with lots of fun things to do with the kids including a miniature-railway, sea-life centre, amusement arcades and more. There is a flat Victorian-style promenade which holds a variety of events throughout the year.
With plenty of destinations to choose from, make sure you find great accommodation to compliment your stay. Luxury hotels are great if you can afford them. If you’re a couple, a romantic country hotel may be more to your taste.
