Recycling Your Old Phone
In a recent study, it was found that almost 93% of Americans did not go about recycling their old cell phones. Therefore, it only makes sense that far fewer are remotely aware that they can make money for providing their tomb of texts. These stats are a little rough to hear, but that’s okay, you just didn’t know. There are many wonderful opportunities to help sustain the environment and even grow your own personal economy at the same time.
Phone recycling is a wonderful enterprise that marries the classic capitalist economy with the popularly emerging green initiatives. On the environmental side, it is much safer to recycle old cell phones due to the increasingly difficult (and costly) measures it takes to mine for the precious metals that comprise cell phones (gold, silver, platinum, etc.) thanks to a new process known as surface mining. The beauty of surface mining is that it is a cheaper way to collect these precious minerals, it utilizes all of the extra materials in the process, and it reduces the waste of electronic devices to less than one percent. It’s a win-win on both sides. Much safer habitat, higher profit margins.
How does one eventually makes money recycling their cell phones? A lot of companies opt to resell the metal contained within the phones. Much like a used car, old cell phones can be parted out and refurbished. They are then sold in developing countries, where old technology seems brand new. Finally, a lot of start-ups are looking for affiliates via blogs and other web sites to write a blurb or just advertise their company just to get the word out. It’s as easy as 123, ABC.
Luckily, mobile phone recycling is one of those industries that will be around as long as people keep talking. It is robust, lucrative, and eco-friendly. Keep talking and get the word out!
