So what should you be looking for? You need a material that allows air to flow. Look for a description that says breathable fabric. The proper circulation of air is necessary to avoid the buildup of mold and mildew particularly in areas of high humidity. It is pointless to go to the trouble of using outdoor table covers only to find when you take them off that the table is covered in mold. If looking at vinyl covers choose those that have a fleece effect backing material. Polyester is a naturally aerated fabric.
It stands to reason that these covers should be durable. After all they are going to be used in adverse weather so you do not want ones that are going to crack or split. Also use the right type for your furniture to avoid having to deal with huge puddles of water accumulating in the center of the table. High backed patio chairs should be covered separately rather than trying to include them under the protection of the table cover. Don’t use covers designed for couches to cover footstools and vice versa!
Outdoor table covers come in a variety of colors and styles so don’t assume you have to just choose the green fabric ones on sale at your local store.
