National Security Guards suffered high-security breach
Another high-security breach is coming to be added in the latest attacks. We’re talking about the data breach of the official website of India’s foremost, special-trained counter terror and anti-hijack commando force, the NSG (National Security Guards). Those in charge of the NSG unit, are very suspicious of a hacking attempt as most likely to have hit their systems.
Due to a recent report Hindustan Times’ Delhi edition, there is an increased fear that the www.nsg.gov.in website, in addition to the official e-mail domains might have been compromised. Although it seems that the website is the least affected, the administrators have reset the passwords of the official emails of NSG units, just in case. Even though the researches of this case haven’t end yet, there is a high probability that the attack might have taken place from outside of India.
The scary thing is that the NSG unit is presently one of the most elite anti-terror units, and one of the most secured as its website is being maintained by the technical wing of the NSG force, in association with the National Informatics Centre (NIC). Another thing that we have to pinpoint is that the famous hacking team Anonymous, had breached the data of the NIC, too, sometime last month, which comes to be added to the hack at the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) website.
The last few months hacking instances have been increasing on the official website of various government units, which pose a serious threat to the flawed claims of security. Needless to say that new – more sophisticated – security policies should be adopted especially when it comes to governmental security and high risk data.
