Mozilla Resolves Reliability Issues in Out-of-Band Firefox Update for Mac Users
Recently, Mozilla updated Firefox to version 5.01. The latest update addresses an issue in Mac OS X 10.7, which causes Firefox to crash. The bug in the upcoming Mac operating system causes Firefox to crash while using downloadable fonts. Mozilla has changed the font APIs to fix the issue. Firefox version 5.01 also resolves an issue related to Mac OS X 10.5, which prevented loading of Java plugins. The latest Java update for Mac OS X 10.5 by Apple caused the plugin failure issue. Mozilla had launched Firefox version 5 last month and stopped support for version 4. Firefox 5 is the first version under the new release cycle, wherein Mozilla aims to launch new version every six weeks.
Last month, Mozilla had also announced that it will stop support for previous versions. The announcement triggered adverse reactions by enterprise users, who will find it difficult to change the supporting platform for their applications on frequent basis. A comment by an employee that Mozilla is more concerned with individual Internet users rather than enterprise customers triggered severe criticism by business enterprises. The developer later said that it is working with IBM, which is also one of the clients to address the issue.
Nightly, Aurora and Beta Channels precede the final release of a Firefox version. Users may upgrade to the latest version either directly from the website of the developer or by selecting ‘Check for Updates’ option in the Help menu of Firefox browser. Internet users enhance their awareness on security issues through online computer degree and online learning programs.
The upcoming versions of Firefox may resolve slow scrolling issue in the main Gmail Window and browser crash issue while launching Firefox using a locked profile. Future releases may also resolve an instability issue while viewing PDF document in the browser while using Windows operating system, and failure of video control buttons while viewing QuickTime videos.
