State Flags Of The USA: AL
Banners and all kinds of flags are attached to flagpoles the United States, including the Alabama state flag. This particular flag is one of many historic banners displayed via all kinds of different means. The design features the “Crimson Cross of St. Andrew” on a white background.
The cross as referred to in the previous paragraph as well as referred to in the law is a diagonal cross, also called officially a “saltire.” At times smaller variations of the state flag are made. This has proven to be an issue over time since the saltire bars are to be at least 6 inches wide. The current Alabama state flag was adopted back in 1895, on November 13th, more than a good century ago!
In comparison to other states, this particular state also flew another banner before the one that is currently being used. At some point in 1861, the AL Secession Convention accepted a resolution first designating an official state flag. The design was interestingly made by a group of women from the respective territory.
There is no surprise that some controversy remains in existence about this particular state banner. Some professionals have claimed that the current flag-design is based on the well known “Battle Flag,” and hence it should be square in terms of proportions. Even though it is not, and in publications of all kinds, the Alabama state flag has been shown squared. Interestingly, U.S. publications have even done the same!
The state of Alabama is located in the southeastern part of the United States of America.
