Backing Up Your iPhone
An iPhone will typically contain on it a whole host of sensitive data and personal information. Some of this information will be your personal details or information you use for work or education, while meanwhile other information on it will be things with sentimental value such as photographs, applications (with save states), diary entries etc. Thus if you lose your phone this means losing a lot of private data which can be an upsetting experience. Here we will look at how you can make sure that doesn’t happen.
If you do need your iPhone fixed after it’s been damaged then thankfully an iPhone repair center is normally easy to find and cheap to use and can repair your phone quickly to get it back to working order. However that doesn’t always mean that you will be able to save the data on it (this will depend on the precise damage that has been done to the phone) and it won’t help you fi your phone gets stolen or lost. Here we will look at how to back up your phone before you need to take it to the iPhone repair center – and even how you can back it up after it’s damaged.
Thankfully an iPhone has the foresight to back itself up regularly and to continually make sure you have all the latest information stored on your computer. It does this every time it ‘syncs’ which your computer which means that it is copying all the files across onto your PC. This is a process that is carried out through iTunes. When you back up your songs or add a new one it will sync.
You need to tell it though that you also want to sync all your private information and all of your files and applications. This takes a little longer but it will mean that things like your contacts and photographs are stored as well as your applications.
The good news is that your applications will all be stored anyway – at least the ones you paid for. If you don’t sync then you will have to install them all again and this is of course a slight inconvenience but the good news is that you won’t have to pay for them again because your profile on iTunes will store the information. You can then simply re-install them. However if you don’t sync your application then you end up losing your save states and having to start everything again from scratch which of course is more of a hassle.
Using sync should not though be the only way that you backup your data as things can still go wrong. What you should also do is to find an application that is designed for backing up stored data. Some of these for instance will save your information online so that you can simply download it again regardless of what happens to your phone. Others will provide other methods for backing up your information and this you can look at as a back up for your back up.
