Who’s Handling Your Social Media?

In the previous handful of months I have heard a lot of company proprietors and C-level execs tell me that their social media is getting handled in-property. “That’s excellent!” I tell them and then I inquire who is responsible for it. Here we go… An intern. An assistant. The marketing division. The receptionist. Human means. A manager. Client services reps. The folks in IT. I could retain likely.

My very first believed is that people companies who want to keep it in home but do not want to shell out a strategist give the responsibilities to the 1st man or woman they arrive across with a little time on their fingers, or somebody they have overheard chatting out their Facebook page. My 2nd thought is that any person who is employing for any placement right now is searching for candidates who also have a little on the internet advertising experience. So on Friday I executed a tiny analysis of my individual – a survey of Craigslist work postings about the final thirty days, seeking for the employer’s solution to the social media issue.

First stop Maine. A fast investigation brings up two positions that require some type of social networking history – a writer and a web guru.

Second end, Alaska (why not, right?) 1 career, a nonprofit advancement director.

Onto Vermont. 1 Public relations, one place designed to be solely dedicated to social communications and 4 company positions.

Austin. 22 Work opportunities. four with an company, 3 Content writers or PT bloggers, 5 in a company’s advertising and marketing division, two product sales assistants, 1 Search engine optimization Manager, 6 internet designers, one customer service rep, and 1 intern. And then there was a single organization that was browsing for a legal secretary that wanted you to forward your social networking profiles along with your resume.

This is the point where I recognized that I had bitten off more than I could chew. Chicago outlined 68 career postings that contained a SM prerequisite 10 of these ended up for interns. Boston seeks 112 task candidates this month with SM abilities, 20 of which are interns.

Los Angeles – 205 work opportunities posted that need SM know-how 38 for interns only.

And my favorite, NYC – where there was about 750 work opportunities posted that contained the phrase “social media” in the work description – for FRIDAY ONLY. This is crazy!! Ten of the 700+ ended up for office assistants. Much more than forty ended up for Enterprise development or Sales. Significantly less than twenty have been searching for world wide web producers.

Sorry interns – only 54 of them ended up for you. On Friday. You might have a lot more luck to verify in on a Monday. Or quite perhaps a Wednesday.
