Back with a vengeance
As far as motor manufacturers go Mitsubishi, the Japanese car manufacturer had been quiet of late. Since it stopped participating or winning in the World Rally Championship we have not heard a lot from the brand. But, as of last year there has been a lot of news about Mitsubishi. The Mitsubishi i-MiEV has put the brand under the spotlight once again.
Mitsubishi’s May sales figures have been announced by the company, the figures have shown a 82% increase for year on year sales. If 82% wasn’t a large enough increase, we have to take into account that the UK car market is down 2% year on year.
Total Mitsubishi passenger car sales for May 2010 were 489, however in May 2011 the figure was 888, an increase of 399 units. The Mitsubishi Shogun saw a 34% increase over the same period with Lancer registrations also increased by 94%.
Mitsubishi Motors in the UK’s Managing Director, Lance Bradley said: “This was a very strong month for Mitsubishi Motors in the UK and is another piece of good news for us and our dealer network. We have more new low-emissions products coming soon and a very stable and profitable dealer network, so all the signs are good for a continued successful future.”
The “Intelligent Motion” range of Mitsubishi models, which includes the Mitsubishi ASX and Outlander crossover vehicles are outselling expectations. Sales of the Mitsubishi Outlander increased by 195% compared to the same time last year, 11% of which comes from the new 2WD model. Mitsubishi servicing Oxford has also reported an increase in revenue generated by after sales and servicing.
