This Side Of the Pond

A little bit of healthy patriotism can do us all some good now and then. It does not matter where you’re origins are in the world, as British people, we have a lot to celebrate and cherish, but unfortunately when it comes to picking our next holiday destination, UK attractions seldom come to our minds.
It’s incredible to think that I am a British citizen. I have travelled the world, but have never been to Wales or Ireland. Most of us want to get away as far as possible from our lives and there is nothing wrong with that. It is not a British thing to visit our neighbours. It is natural but it doesn’t always make sense, especially if you have children.
You cannot tell me that saving up for just one holiday abroad each year is better than exploring one or two attractions closer to home each year with your family. Quantity is not always better than quality, but what are we mostly looking for when we go on holiday? We are wanting to get away, to have some fun and to relax. An ‘exotic’ location would be ideal, but is it necessary, always? The financial strain, the travel time and the fact that you can take your family on more than one holiday a year (if you consider parts of the UK as possible holiday destinations) must count for something. Chertsey in Surrey for instance, is a good place for family holidays. John Battleday Water Ski, Dytona Motor Sports Sandown Park, Windsor Castle, Hampton Court Palace and Ascot are all within a ten miles radius. And of course Thorpe Park which is also close is immensely fun for people of all ages. Look it up: Thorpe Park Hotel; Drayton Manor Hotel Deals; as well as the other attractions.
