VW Passat wins 2011 Towcar Awards

The new Volkswagen Passat in Kent has been the star of the show within a recent demo by auto giant Volkswagen, as the VW car shows off its massive pulling power, winning not just one, but two gongs within the Towcar Awards 2011.

Judged by new and used tow car specialists from Practical Caravan magazines, The Camping and Caravanning Club as well as experts from Whatcar?, the new car won for both its kerb weight as well as overall Tow Car Champion.

The new Volkswagen Passat Estate TDI released earlier this year in January 2011, demonstrated its huge pulling power within rigorous tests, whilst the Volkswagen Golf became the clear winner for a second time of the under 1425kg kerb weight category.

The panel sent high praise of the VW Passat due to its towing stability, refinement, gearbox, common rail diesel engine. As a great all-rounder the new VW car won for being a complete all round vehicle, ready to tackle the longest journeys, runs economically, and is a hugely impressive car for the tow car category.

With competition high and over 50 entrants put through their paces by the grueling MIRA testing that ensued within the testing ground at Warwickshire, the VW was the clear winner. Each vehicle was assessed on its towing practicality, driving performance, value for money, fuel economy and safety attributes.

A great Tow Car is essential for the hugely growing holiday making market and in particular, as more people each year are relying on their used vw Passat estate in Canterbury for that summer holiday. Tow cars need to be practical, comfortable and economical and the new vw Passat and new vw golf both score top marks in this category.
