Volkswagen gain top spot for Security 2011
The top spot for the What Car? Security Awards 2011 causes great tension amongst the world’s automotive manufacturers and auto makers as each alongside Thatcham security endeavours to turn each of their cars into a fortress, ensuring that the nimble burglar cannot enter or steal the vehicle. Each one side by side battles it out against one another in order to become the best manufacturer overall (this years winner being Volkswagen), and each competes within the new car landscape every March and September when significantly, the plates change.
For What Car? this particular award goes to the manufacturer who has already been praised many times for the vast majority of models within the security section and in its 4th year partnering with Thatcham Security, VW have proudly beaten the likes of Audi and Volvo to the top spot.
In association with Thatcham Vehicle Security, the Security testing Awards are presented to the manufacturer with the most models within the security category. VW were awarded What Cars? Manufacturer of the year due to their on-going advancement of security within their vehicles such as top class door locking mechanisms, the toughest immobilisers, electric windows and alarms.
Volkswagen were awarded 11 awards for vehicle safety including the new tiguan in kent and the VW Phaeton in kent. The new Volkswagen Sharan also won an award within the security league.
VW are proud of their 11 award winning models including the VW caddy maxi, VW EOS, jetta and vw Passat in kent. Editor of What Car? John Mcllroy was quoted as saying that it makes sense for buyers to consider security when buying a new car.
