Why Low Energy Light Bulbs?
These days there lies such a huge impact of global warming that every individual from a student to an old aged believes in saving energy in one or the other way. Light, water and environment; all are linked with each other, and disturbances in any of these aspects can result into a disaster. Well, the easiest and possible way to save energy by a normal man is to save electricity. These days, manufacturers have developed such sources of light that consumes less of energy and produces more of light. These light bulbs not only save money by producing more light, but also help an individual minimize his electricity bill. The low energy light bulbs are more efficient than the conventional light bulbs and in general tend to last for fifteen times longer. In addition, these bulbs are even easy to install because these come with fittings that are used to fix the standard bulbs. So while lowering the unwanted emissions, these light bulbs also reduce the expenditures of the user.
It is basically the fluorescent technology based on which the energy saving bulbs have been designed and abbreviated as CFL, compact fluorescent lamp. Many people wonder that how exactly these CFLS work to produce more light with less of energy. For their information, such bulbs actually work by applying a voltage difference between the cathode and the anode terminals of the bulb. During large differences, enough electrons try and jump across the gap between the terminals; however not all of them succeed. The failed ones hit an inert gas that does not react with anything under normal conditions. At this point of time, electrons within the inert gas becomes quite excited as they are loaded with more of energy and therefore in order to return to a stable condition, these release energy in the form of a photon, which further lights a bulb.
There is no doubt in saying that the cost of one low energy light bulb is much higher than that of a normal bulb, but then it continues saving your hard earned money on electricity bills and the longer lifespan of the bulb. Low light bulbs generally can be classified into two categories; one is CFL and the other one is LED. Both these bulbs are known for providing substantial energy saving but are different from each other in some aspects. LEDs are basically the most expensive ones among the low energy light bulbs but then these are the most effective ones also. They even provide greater savings and have a longer lifespan as compared to CFLs but then require some special fittings to get installed. And this is the reason, why most of the population today prefers using CFLs for their homes and work places.
