More often than not, people tend to shun from police careers because of the high risks involved, the risk of death is foremost among them. Plus, there are many accounts of police brutality and abuse that are publish online and on printed media that further mar the reputation of the police force.
But to you as an individual who is considering into joining the police force, is it really worthwhile to become a police officer?
Firstly, it all depends on your passion. Many well-intentioned people with people careers enter into the service because of the meaning and satisfaction the police jobs bring to their inner selves. It feels good when they can protect and help people. Without passion, you will be performing police jobs half-heartedly. If on the other hand, you have the passion to protect and help others, then everyday in the police jobs will be fulfilling indeed!
Secondly, it all depends on how daring you are. Police jobs are full of hype and adventure and one in which you will not regret getting into. When you are a police officer, no day will be boring unlike what happens in casual work in the office. Instead, you will be running on the streets, patrolling the alleys or investigating crimes. Can you do dare yourself to do that as part of your police jobs? Of course, you can, if you have the passion.
The problem is many people just fail to see the other side of the coin. What they usually see are the dangers, making them fearful of applying for any police jobs.
Without mentioning the security and other advantages of police careers , joining the police force can be one of the most defining moments of your life. Coupled with passion and integrity, you can prove to others that police jobs are honourable and fulfilling!
