The Jaigarh Fort is situated on the hill known as Hill of Eagles or Cheel ka Teela. It overlooks the famous Maota Lake and the Amber Fort in Rajasthan, India. It was built to serve the function of defense by the Ruler Sawai Jai Singh in the 17th century. The Jaigarh Fort is popularly known as the “Victory Fort” and its resemblance is quite similar to the Amber Fort. The length of this fort is approximately 3 km with the width of around of approximately 1 km. The fort also consists of the world’s largest cannon, named as the “Javiana” and is also known as the cannon on wheels. Although, the Amber Fort and the Jaigarh Fort are connected by the complex passage, but it is believed that earlier they were a part of one complex building only. The fort is situated around 15 km from the city Jaipur. One can easily see this part while moving on the Delhi- Jaipur Highway. The Nahargarh Fort is also located on the same road.

This fort is surrounded by the thick walls of red stone used for the construction of this fort. With the sloppy ramparts in each corner of the fort, it provides access towards the upper structure of the fort. The “Darwaja” is the Hindi word which means the “gate”.

It is located in the fort and has the tripe arched entrance. The architecture style of the Jaigarh Fort is quite similar to the Indo- Persian Style and the fort is plastered along with the lime mortar. The supply of water to the fort was made available by the development of several water harvesting bodies located in the Aravalli catchments and the canals.
